This started with this- Mythbusters Gagged: Did Credit Card Companies Kill Episode Exposing RFID Security Flaws ?. I was curious if it was true and at this time appears to be so.
I went to the Mythbusters TV Schedule and sure enough it isn't listed. I know they were going to air it because I saw the commercial/preview this past Friday while watching an episode. During this preview, Kari was being Implanted with a RFID Chip and the voice over said something like- Can a CT-Scan make a RFID Chip explode. The chip was being implanted in Kari's right arm.
Oh well....Guess the security folks don't want you to know just how insecure RFID Chips really are. Yet another case of sacrificing privacy under the guise of security. Tin Foil anyone....
BoingBoingTV demonstrates how an $8 credit card reader bought off eBay can be used to read your credit card numbers while they're still inside your wallet.
Also demonstrated: A stainless steel wallet that blocks the reader. We know someone who keeps his credit cards in an Altoids tin. He now seems like a genius.
Nod- consumerist
