First it was called Swine influenza. Then they upgraded the name to Influenza A(H1N1). Now, presently it is being called Pandemic (H1N1) 2009. So whats in a name.....and why the name change ? And why did they drop the (A) and revert back to just H1N1 ? My best guess is because it has Mutated and is no longer classified strictly as Swine Flu or Influenza A(H1N1). I expect soon we will be told this.
If you'll recall, when the Swine Flu first hit it was already called a Pandemic by the MSM. Then on June 11, 2009 the World Health Organization raised its alert level to its highest phase of 6, Declaring it an Official Pandemic. Also of note; The virus was being described as a new subtype of A/H1N1 not previously detected in swine or humans.
At the time of the last report July 1, 2009 there are 77201 confirmed cases reported, and 332 confirmed Pandemic (H1N1) Deaths.
